The Global Cyber Alliance (www.globalcyberalliance.org), an international non-profit organization focused on addressing systemic cyber risks, celebrates its first anniversary. Established by the New York County District Attorney, the Center for Internet Security, and City of London Police in September of 2015, the organization has grown considerably and built a capability to address systemic cyber risks.

The professional staff has grown to 16, including a number of highly regarded industry leaders, a talented technical team focused on innovative solutions, and dedicated support staff. GCA has also established significant partnerships with other organizations -- businesses, government, and non-profits -- around the world that will help it achieve their joint mission: Do Something. Measure It.

Focused on implementation of solutions to systemic risks and measuring the results, the Global Cyber Alliance (GCA) brings a unique perspective and approach to addressing cybersecurity. "We define systemic cyber risk as that which affects more than one organization, is above the enterprise level and is material across an entire nation or sector," said Philip Reitinger, GCA President and CEO. "We have two projects currently underway for which we expect to release early results in the coming months. We will also move forward on measuring systemic cyber risk to better enable industry, governments, and NGOs to prioritize actions and measure effect." Reitinger, a longtime industry and government executive, joined GCA in January of this year.

Earlier this year, the Global Cyber Alliance Strategic Advisory Committee met and made recommendations about the specific risks the organization should address. Out of that meeting GCA's first projects were identified: addressing the risk of phishing through DMARC implementation, and minimizing the risk of phishing and other attacks through building a DNS infrastructure that would block many cyberattacks.
